Attachments and File Sharing

Purpose - Lets users attach files to messages and chat messages, and download those files later. Attachments are stored so that they can be retrieved along with the message or chat entry they belong to. 

Who Can Use It 

Any user who can compose a message or send a chat message. 

Key Capabilities 

  • Attach one or more files to a message being composed or a chat message.
  • View the list of attachments on a message or chat message. 
  • Download an individual attachment. 
  • Delete an attachment (subject to role and access rules). 
  • Attachments are organized by year, month, and message so they can be retrieved reliably.
How to Use It 
  • While composing a message or chat message, choose Attach File. 
  • Select one or more files to attach. 
  • Send the message. The files are uploaded together with the message.
  • To download an attachment, open the message or chat and click the attachment name.  

Rules & Restrictions

  • Attachments must include a file name, file type, file size, and file path. 
  • The maximum allowed attachment size is 10 MB per file. 
  • Attachment file size must be greater than zero. 
  • Attachments are tied to their parent message. Removing the message removes access to its attachments.
