System Overview

The SamarthX Attendance System is a location-aware attendance and workforce presence platform built for state education departments, schools, teachers, and other school staff. It records daily attendance for employees and students, verifies punches against each school's geofenced boundary, and surfaces live and historical attendance information for teachers, school administrators, and state-level education officers (DHE).

At its core, the system lets employees mark their check-in and check-out from within their school premises using their mobile device, while allowing school administrators to manage duties, shifts, leaves, holidays, and student attendance. State-level officers can monitor attendance in real time across every school in the state, compare performance, and export reports.

Key ideas the platform is built around:

  • Attendance is location-verified. Each school has a geofenced boundary (centre point plus a radius). A check-in or check-out is accepted only when the employee is inside that boundary.
  • Attendance is honest about GPS quality. The system knows a device can be uncertain about its own position, so it labels each punch with a "high", "medium", "low", or "unknown" fix quality tier and offers a controlled override path for genuinely poor readings.
  • Attendance can be corrected. Missed or wrong punches can be regularized by a school administrator within a monthly limit, and the DHE can do so without consuming that limit.
  • Attendance rolls up cleanly. Every day's numbers are aggregated per school, per district, and state-wide, in real time as well as through precomputed daily rollups that keep the DHE dashboard fast.
