Student Attendance

Purpose - Records student attendance for a class-section on a day, tracks which sections have submitted their marks, and produces monthly and school-level views.

Who Can Use It

  • Teachers and other school employees: submit a class-section's roster and edit individual student marks after submission.
  • School Admin: same access, plus school-level views.
  • DHE / DHE Employee / Platform Admin: read-only access to school and state-level student attendance views.

Key Capabilities

  • Submission-aware roster: shows whether attendance has already been submitted for a class-section on a day.
  • Status options drawn from a reference table: Present, Absent, On Leave, Half Day, On Assignment. Batch submission of a full class-section on a day.
  • Per-student edit after submission.
  • Class-section submission status list ("Marked" or "Not Marked") for a school day. Monthly attendance views for a single student, a whole class-section, and a whole school (day by day).
  • School-wide student stats and DHE state-wide student stats, today stats, and daily trend. School-tag filter tabs (e.g., "PM SHRI") derived from the data.
  • Distinguishes days when a student was not yet enrolled from days when the class simply did not report.
  • Excel export of DHE student-schools list, with optional school-tag filter.
How to Use It
  • A class teacher opens the roster for their class-section, marks any non-present statuses, and submits.
  • If a status needs correcting later, the teacher edits the individual student mark.
  •  School Admin can see how many sections in the school have submitted today.
  • Monthly views show per-student and per-class summaries, plus school-wide day-by-day totals.
  • DHE reviews state-wide student attendance and the daily trend.

Rules & Restrictions

  • A student with no mark row under a submitted roster is considered present.
  • Half-day and on-assignment students are counted as attending; only absent and on-leave students are counted as non-attending.
  • Attendance percentages are reported in two flavours: one based on submitted days only ("how the student did"), and an overall percentage based on every expected working day ("how much of the month is accounted for").
  • Both are shown so under-reporting is visible. Sundays and declared holidays are excluded from expected working days; a holiday the class did submit anyway is treated as a real working day.
